The Sun newspaper wrote:

“SUGABABES star AMELLE BERRABAH and her boyfriend Freddie Fuller have been through hell for the last 14 months.

The pop singer’s world fell apart after her little sister Samiya accused Freddie and three pals of raping her after a night out.

Amelle, 23, suddenly found she had to choose between her boyfriend and her sister. She immediately dumped Freddie and put her chart career on hold to be by her sister’s side.

More contradictions in her witness statement appeared and in October police finally told Freddie there were no charges being brought against him and he was in the clear.

Samiya has since confessed to Amelle that “it was all a bad dream” and pleaded for her sister to forgive her.

But the damage had already been done and the couple have been abused in the street, with Freddie, who comes from a family of travellers, bearing the brunt of the abuse, once being called “a pikey rapist”.

Freddie has asked to set the record straight and clear his name once and for all. He and Amelle speak exclusively below.

Amelle refused to question the horrific ordeal her sister had tearfully described in graphic detail.

And she ignored desperate pleas from Freddie that her sister was lying. Freddie passed two independent lie detector tests before Amelle would answer calls and hear him out.

His pleas were backed up as the police investigation faltered.

Detectives proved Freddie was five miles away at his parents’ house on the phone to Amelle when the alleged incident took place in January 2007.

His friend John Carey, who Samiya also named as one of the attackers, was pictured 30 miles away on CCTV on the same night.

She said the “rape” took place at the parents’ home of Freddie’s co-accused Mark Marney after Samiya had been on a night out in Guildford, Surrey. They were both in the house at the time and had breakfast with Samiya in the morning after she accused the four of
